Pavlos Alexias

Early Stage Researcher 4 at Engys IT

I was born and raised in 1992 in Lamia, a small town in central Greece. From the time I was going to school, I remember my self being interested in mathematics and physics being enthralled by complex mechanical systems like cars, airplanes, etc.

After I finished high school at the age of 18 years old, I moved to Athens to study at the National Technical University of Athens in the school of Mechanical Engineering. During my university studies, my focus shifted immediately to fields like aerodynamics, aircraft design, and turbomachinery. Through them, my thesis was in the area of aerodynamic optimization made in collaboration with the Parallel CFD & Optimization Unit in the Laboratory of Thermal Turbomachines dealt with the usage of Reduce Order Models in unsteady adjoint solver with applications in flow control using pulsating jets.

In June 2015 I started working in Engys S.R.L. in Trieste as an ESR in the IODA (Industrial Optimal Design using Adjoint CFD) project and simultaneously I am a Ph.D. candidate of the NTUA. My research is focused on creating a fast, reliable and accurate CAD free morphing framework that can be utilized effectively in industrial adjoint optimization applications.

By the end of the 3-years project, I moved to London and start work for Engys Ltd. as CFD Software Developer.
