WP 5: Constrained optimisation

Methods for the definition and imposition of constraints in shape and topology optimisation will be developed. Imposition of constraints will be worked out for both CAD-free and CAD-based approaches, in the framework of optimisation loops. GUI-driven imposition of constraints will be developed. Their imposition will strongly be linked with existing adjoint methods. The development includes methods for respecting constraints during topology-to-shape transition.

Objectives:

  • Imposition of geometric constraints for CAD-free approaches

  • Imposition of geometric constraints for CAD-based approaches derived from the assembly model (DMU)

  • Imposition of flow constraints using vector adjoints and advanced optimisers

  • Quantification of constraint imposition on cost function, of parametric effectiveness
